After trying  to render some fluid in blender, I think I need more RAM:

Linux vs Blender

The bottom shows the System a few seconds before Blender got killed. The RAM and Swap where both at 99% (hard to take the screenshot accurate enough with a laggy system ).

After baking some fluid simulation, I wanted to render the fluid with smooth shading and Subdivision Surface of two. The baked fluid had a resolution of 256.  My current System is a Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 2,4Ghz with 4Gb of RAM and 2Gb of Swap. Enough for the mostly testing stuff I’m doing, until now .

Baking took a long time , 9 hours for >30 frames. That’s because Blenders volume/mesh based fluid simulation runs at only one core.

I used a pretty basic setup, see screenshot below:

there are some very interesting changes in Blender, related to Mesh Painting. Miika Hämäläinen aka MiikaH has written code for Mesh Painting. Just have a look at his videos:

me again. Well this blog was dead for nearly a year now, but now it will arise like a phoenix from the ashes.

I was writing my own Blog software, at first without a database, but this doesn’t go the way it supposed to go. After that I rewrite this to use a database, but after hours of writing I considered, it would be much more time saving, if I just get faster databases (but I still learned much ). So I moved from Strato to Hosteurope. Until now, it’s a very good decision. The adminpanel let’s me all the freedom I need and the databases are much faster.

Okay, new WordPress, new theme (hope you like it), all the old posts are imported, the RSS feed is still the same. Well the content which will follow in the feature, will mainly be the same as it was:

• LXDE
• Linux
• Netzpolitik (de)
• Blender (3D)

Only change: the last point will be more active now.

Like before I will write in German and English, mainly English (LXDE, Linux, Blender). Well Netzpolitik will be mostly German. If there is enough time, I will translate the English articles into German, too.  I dropped complete multi language,  because of a lack of time and the plugins destroyed my WordPress installation .

So I hope you’ll have a great time reading the blog, have fun.

Das nachfolgende Video wurde am Rand der Freiheit-statt-Angst-Demo aufgenommen. Der Poster bei YouTube schreibt dazu: „Dieses Video von der FSA09 ist dem CCC zugesteckt worden. Hintergrund ist, dass der Fahrradfahrer im blauen Hemd Anzeige gegen einen anderen Polizisten erstatten wollte, weil der einen Freund von ihm unter unfreundlichen Umständen (“aggro-zecke trifft aggro-polizist“) festgesetzt wurde.“

Update: Bitte: Ein kurzes Video zeigt keine ganze Geschichte. Auch wenn das Vorgehen der Beamten, das auf dem Video zu sehen ist, wohl kaum zu relativieren oder gar zu rechtfertigen ist, sollte die Aufklärung des Falls denjenigen überlassen werden, die dafür zuständig sind. Auch Pauschalverurteilungen und Schwarzweißmalerei sind m.E. fehl am Platz, gerade Berliner wissen, dass Gewalt auf oder am Rande von Demos nicht immer ausschließlich von der Staatsmacht ausgeht. Was, ich wiederhole mich, diese Bilder in keinster Weise rechtfertigt, egal was vorher passiert sein könnte. Dennoch: Vermutungen inkl. Beleidigungen oder Aufrufe zur Gewalt in den Kommentaren werden gelöscht, dies geschieht auch zum Schutz derjenigen, die sie hier veröffentlichen.

Desweiteren entbehrt es einer bösen und bitteren Ironie nicht, dass in diesem Fall, wie auch in vielen früheren Fällen, (Überwachungs-) Kameras hoffentlich zur Aufklärung von vermutlichen Straftaten durch die Staatsgewalt führen.

Es bleibt kompliziert, dieses Ding namens Gesellschaft.

Und manchmal sehr traurig.

Vergangenes Wochenende war ich in Sankt Augustin, auf der Froscon, insgesamt ein super Wochenende. Hier mal ein paar Highlights:

Lasse nie ein frisch installiertes an einem Stand einer anderen Distribution stehen, ansonsten wirst du nach dem Kaffee holen nach einem neuen Root Passwort gefragt

Man nehme einen Distributionsnamen und eine handvoll Ambassadors, und schon hat man eine wunderbare neue Distribution: Arschlinux

Der Social Event war auf jeden Fall super, wenn man sich einmal durch die Schlange gestanden hat, lies es sich sehr entspannt im Innenhof bei ein wenig Musik ganz gut aushalten. Besonders amüsant ist es wenn dann der obige Fall eintritt, und man nach auf der Suche nach Internet aus der Dose ist, um zu erkennen wie toll pacman ist, Stichwort IloveCandy.

Auch für LXDE haben wir uns wieder eingesetzt, so wurden Mario, Christoph und ich z.B. Interviewet, konnten den weiblichen Teil unseres Teams weiter aufstocken und haben am Fedora Stand LXDE spezifische Fragen beantwortet.

In dem Sinne danke ich allen die auf der Froscon waren , insbesondere den Fedora Ambassadoren, für ein Super Wochenende .

Hi,

You might have noticed, that I have added a wiki to my blog, all static content is stored there now. For example my projects and scripts, my gallery and my articles are now in the wiki. The wiki is multi language. Besides I will post more politc specific articles. That’s ’cause I think, every voice count. I’d like to tell people news which aren’t shown in the news, ’cause the politics don’t want them. Additionally  I want to  correct news that some politics want us to believe. This news will be in German, makes most sense . So I correct the statement in my last “blog redesign”-post it won’t be default English, the post will be in the language which will make most sense for you, the readers.

More technical infos:

The wikiengine is called Dokuwiki. It’s for small to medium Wikis. For me it really fits my needs, partly through, very easy to install, plugins. The Theme is called arctic_dark, which is a fork of arctic, a very popular Dokuwiki theme. I have modified it so that it fit into my blogs design.

So I hope you like the wiki, it will be extended the next days and keep reading

Damit bewirken die kriegsführenden westlichen Länder seit dem ersten Golfkrieg 1991 im Irak, im Balkan, im zweiten Golfkrieg und in Afghanistan einen schleichenden Genozid in diesen Regionen der Welt, die man am liebsten in Chaos oder sogar menschenleer sehen möchte, weil es um Machtpolitik geht.
